Large-Scale Structures in the Local Universe

Observing galaxies is typically easier for nearby objects, which makes the local low-redshift Universe a potentially rich source of information about large-scale structure and cosmology. In particular we can use spectroscopic and imaging data to measure the peculiar velocities of nearby galaxies, which can tell us about how cosmic flows have developed over time since the early days of the Universe.

I have worked on several aspects of cosmology in the local Universe, with a focus on the prospect of using proper motions to measure transverse velocities statistically and the potential bias to large-scale structure measurements from correlations with our local density field.
